Most computer users are familiar with the term disk defragmentation. At least, I hope they do, for the sake of computers everywhere. Defragmentation is incredibly important for computers, as the simple act of using it will quickly fragment the files, scattering them all over the drive and forcing your computer to sprint all over the place to recover those files. Obviously, this slows it down, so constant defragmentation is incredibly important if you want your computer to run at tip-top speeds. UltraDefrag is a fantastic free choice.
Booting UltraDefrag up will show that it has an incredibly simple interface. New users will probably be confused about the grid in the bottom half of the interface, but experienced users will recognize the familiar sight. Clicking analyze will show you the results in that giant cluster map down below. Clicking on Defragment took a really long time, and at the end of it, Windows utility still said that I needed to defragment my disk. That was strange, so I clicked Optimize as well. At the end of that lengthy process, Windows finally agreed that our disk was defragmented.
Note that while I said a lengthy time, it still was faster than most other defragmentation software that I tested before. If any of the above confused you, then I recommend looking at the Help file. Other than the simple interface, there's little stopping me from recommending UltraDefrag. It's quick, free, and lightweight - a fantastic combination for any optimization programs out there. If you need to defrag, give this a download!
