Advance Wars revolutionized the turn-based strategy genre, giving newcomers an easy series to jump into the genre while also giving mainstay players a surprising amount of strategic depth. Before that, turn-based strategy games like Final Fantasy Tactics or Civilization were grueling, long term micromanagement games. Advance Wars instead had you throwing disposable units by the dozen at the enemy. It inspired a ton of different games, with one of them being the Battalion series. Let's look at Battalion: Vengeance.

To play Battalion: Vengeance, simply run it with whatever SWF player you have.

In the last entry, you play as the Dragoons as you attempt to retake your homeland. You will occasionally go back to the red army from the first game, but the game's story is very much focused on the new green army. 

The game's roster has never been so diverse, with Raptor Fighters, Rocket Trucks and the massive Annihilator Tank. There are also oa variety of strategic units such as Barricades, Artillery Towers, and Jammer Trucks as well as the returning War Machine. Strategic depth has never been so high as in this series, and veterans would love the amount of options they have.

You'll need those options too, because the maps are now designed in a way that forces you to approach strategically rather than the all out brawls of the previous games.

All in all, if you've played the last two, there's no reason not to play Battalion: Vengeance as well.
