Tower Defense games have generally fallen out of favor in the mainline gaming industry in the 21st century. There are very few tower defense games in the AAA market, and even if they're there, it's usually as part of a gimmick or a minigame. Thus, Flash games have had time to refine and innovate on the formula by themselves. One of the many series that have tried is the Bubble Tanks series. Let's look at Pokemon Tower Defense.

This game turns the popular catch-em-all experience into a tower defense RPG hybrid complete with its own evolutions, story, mystery gifts, badges, and more.

It's a surprisingly strategic game. Just like the main line of games, you have a team of six pokemon, all with their own unique moves. You have to select which move each pokemon uses, and that's the one they'll use when they attack, which is a fantastic take on importing the Pokemon formula into the tower defense genre. 

What's great is that there's somehow a pretty decent story that's really tongue in cheek as well, which is fantastic.

All in all, Pokemon Tower Defense is a very strong game and is incredibly fun to play through, and seeing how each Pokemon will play out on the field is incredibly fun.
