Flash game developers were incredibly ambitious despite the rather limited nature of the medium. These developers don't let that stop them, however, and so there's a ton of episodic series on the internet. While unfortunately, many of them stop mid-series as the developer runs out of steam, there's plenty that stand completed. One of them is the Sift Heads series. Let's look at Sift Heads 5.

To play Sift Heads 5, just run it with whatever SWF player you have.

The gameplay in this series takes a significant turn in gameplay, which almost every game in the series after this will take after. Instead of being isolated levels where you solve a puzzle and then watch a cutscene, you now control Vinnie in the overworld as he walks around a hand-crafted environment. If you want to whip out your gun and start blasting, that is now its own dedicated button.

You can walk around and talk to the residents of the area, and receive some side quests. There are only three main missions in this game, but there are twenty missions in total. Each of these missions will give you resources to succeed at the main missions better.

All in all, Sift Heads 5 introduces a fantastic new gameplay loop that proved to be so popular that every entry in the series will take after it.
