Flash game developers were incredibly ambitious despite the rather limited nature of the medium. These developers don't let that stop them, however, and so there's a ton of episodic series on the internet. While unfortunately, many of them stop mid-series as the developer runs out of steam, there's plenty that stand completed. One of them is the Sift Heads series. Let's look at the first entry.

To play Sift Heads, just run it with whatever SWF player you have.

This episode has you playing as Vinnie, an assassin who's working for the Red Mafia. The gameplay flow has you playing through a level that has you accomplishing some objective and is broken up by cutscenes. These cutscenes are voice acted, though the voice acting is amateur and the mic quality makes it hard to follow the story at times.

The levels themselves are interesting. Some of them are slow-paced and is more like a puzzle than having good aim, while others are heavily reaction and memorization-based, making them near impossible to complete on the first try. These levels scale in difficulty far too quickly.

However, the story itself is interesting and has a surprisingly complete arc. If you enjoy a good story and some challenging gameplay, you should give Sift Heads a try. It's incredibly well put together, especially when you consider when the game was made.
