Visual novels are one of the most popular genres for indie developers to make games for, due to there being a fantastic free engine out there that helps people easily make visual novels, as well as the low amount of resources required relative to other genres. As a result, indie developers need to do something unique in this genre to stand out. Ristorante Amore gives it its best shot.

The setup for this game is very standard. You play as Lily, who just landed a job as a waitress. There are three men that work at the restaurant who you can woo as the story progresses. Pierre is the line chef, Ethan is the head waiter, and Liam is the busboy.

This might sound like an incredibly bland story, and it is when you write it out on paper like that. On top of that, player interactivity is on the low end of things, with only a moderate amount of choices to be made throughout the game. However, you'll quickly find that the initial portion of the game is actually a lengthy prologue. Things change significantly after the prologue, however. I don't want to get too into it, but needless to say things change dramatically, and it's a very inventive twist.
