2D beat-em-ups have been steadily getting ignored by the AAA gaming industry, leaving it up to indie developers to take up the mantle. However, the progenitor of indie games, flash games, were the ones that popularized the genre in the first place. One of these is the Rage series. Let's look at Rage 3.
To play Rage 3, simply run it with a Flash player of your choice.
The game's menu is very similar to the original game. There are two different game modes - Arcade and Adventure. Arcade is an endless high score generator while Adventure mode is more traditional levels. There's a shop where you can spend the money you earn naturally through gameplay where you can upgrade your character. There's also a cheat menu where you can enter cheat codes.
The controls have changed from the last game, but your character's moveset is roughly the same. The only thing that's different is the addition of dedicated weapon swap buttons so you can use your full arsenal at all times. The animations of the game carry the same DNA of every other stick figure game - on an individual basis, they are incredibly high quality. However, the cracks show when two sets of animations interact with each other.
All in all, however, Rage 3 is a great game that takes the original game and tunes it up to make it more fun.
