Peerblock 1.2

Peerblock is an advanced IP blocking utility. For the layman, when you browse the internet, you're interacting with other computers and servers online, all of which have their own IP address. This program lets you choose which ones you want to be blocked off from accessing your information.

When you first run Peerblock, a wizard helps you set your options up. By default, it blocks P2P connections, ads, spyware, and educational institutes. You can also always allow HTTP connections, which amounts to keeping ports 80 and 443 open on your PC even if they're on your blocklist. The reason those remain unblocked is that they're the most commonly used ports for browsing the internet. Blocking them would more likely than not simply render your browsers unusable. Once you get into the actual program itself, you'll notice that the interface is...unappealing to say the least. It's simply a long list of IP address numbers, with some tabs for settings.

If this sounds way too technical for you, the program does its best to keep you informed. Every step comes with a paragraph long recommendation that explains your options, and the Peerblock forums have plenty of documentation to help you, as well as new user guides and the like. 

The settings don't do much other than let you adjust how much the program displays at a time, and whether it boots up on startup or not. While the interface is not appealing at all, Peerblock does exactly what it advertises and does it well.
