Super Smash Brothers was a massive hit when the second entry, Melee, released back in 2001. It introduced a whole new genre of fighters. Instead of focusing on complex button inputs and reducing the opponent's health bar to 0, Smash Brothers introduced new concepts like off-stage interactions and focus on movement much more, as well as simply racking up damage until the opponent flies off-screen and dies. Its crossover nature has also spawned a ton of games that sought to cross over their own franchises. One of the more humble ones is Newgrounds Rumble.
To install Newgrounds Rumble, simply run the file in whatever SWF player you have.
This game features a couple of modes, but the one you're probably going to start with is the training, and then the story. Each character (taken from some of Newground's most popular series) has their own set of stages and opponents to go through, as well as a unique ending for each of them. The light, overarching plot is that each character wants to become the king of newgrounds, and whoever you control will eventually become that.
Gameplay is very similar to Smash Bros, except everybody has a health bar that can be depleted. You have a light and strong attack, a guard, a jump, and a crouch. Various items will also appear on stage as you continue playing. These simplistic controls let you do a ton of cool stuff like aerial juggling if you're skilled enough.
All in all, Newgrounds Rumble is a fantastic flash recreation of the Smash Bros formula with its own twist.
