Low budget indie games tend to be some of the most creative around, assuming they aren't just flipping assets poorly in Unity. Without the budget to create an epic, the creators instead need to focus on one unique feature to make their games stick out. From these restrictions come some truly inventive concepts. One of them is Ghost Study, which carries itself solely through atmosphere and some surprising ARG elements.
To play Ghost Study, simply unzip the files into a folder and run the executable.
The game's graphics are the thing you'll notice first, as it's one of those games that intentionally try to tap into people's fear of the abstract by using PS1 style graphics. This may turn some people off, but I personally find that it contributes a ton to the atmosphere.
The second thing you'll notice are the notes. Throughout the game, you'll find various notes with links on them. These links are accessible if you type them into your favorite browser of choice, adding some ARG elements to the game. Unfortunately, you'll quickly find that all of the links don't actually add to the game itself, instead being links to various studies linking sound to people's perception of ghosts and apparitions. While interesting, this makes the ARG element rather moot.
The game is completable without ever alt-tabbing out of it. The ending will come quick and with a somewhat surprising twist as well. If any of that sounds interesting, then you should definitely give Ghost Study a try.
