In 1997, Webfoot Technologies released a game called Deadly Rooms of Death. Its unique controls, gameplay flow, and puzzle style of dungeon crawling makes it incredibly unique even by today's standards. However, once the 3D age begun, they would drop support for the game, but let the original developer remake it in an open source model. Years later, ports of the series have finally come to the browser in a flash game format. Let's look at DROD: Episode 4.
To play DROD: Episode 4, just run it with whatever SWF player you have.
This game is the continuation of the flash series online that is aiming to port the game over to the format. You're now exploring floors 13-16 of the castle. Thus, it's highly recommended that you play the previous episodes first so you get a smooth difficulty curve. If you don't want to, however, there is a tutorial built into the game for newcomers who want to start in the middle for whatever reason.
You still have to move using your numpad or use an alternate control scheme if you're on a laptop. You will also use Q and W to swing your sword around to activate switches and kill monsters. Monsters will move only when you move, so be careful that you don't get yourself killed accidentally and watch out for the living tar.
If you played the last two episodes, there's pretty much no reason not to keep going. DROD: Episode 4 is a perfectly fine entry all on its own, though.
