Dota Autochess was a surprise hit when it came out, which was doubly surprising as it was simply a custom game mod. The combination of gambling and real skill took the internet by storm, so much so that Valve has officially sanctioned it and released their own version - Dota Underlords.

This game features many of the features that Dota Auto Chess had, except much more streamlined. There's a built-in tutorial this time around, and will teach you the basics of what the genre plays like. Otherwise, if you've played an auto-chess game before, you won't find much different.

You still gain interest by holding onto a number of gold in multitudes of 10, and you still build team comps based on various synergies, and you still have to strategize by positioning your team properly to take out the enemy's vulnerable carries while keeping your own alive. You also have to level up your units by finding duplicates of them.

There are also different modes. There is the duo mode, where two players share health and levels to perform as a team, speedy mode, which lowers health and increases money gain to speed through the game, and knockout mode, which plays completely differently from the normal game by having you have a starting crew.

Overall, Dota Underlords is a great auto chess game that does just enough to set itself apart from its competition.
