Tower Defense games have generally fallen out of favor in the mainline gaming industry in the 21st century. There are very few tower defense games in the AAA market, and even if they're there, it's usually as part of a gimmick or a minigame. Thus, Flash games have had time to refine and innovate on the formula by themselves. The Bloons Tower Defense series is probably the best example of this innovation. Let's look at Bloons Tower Defense 3.
To play Bloons Tower Defense 3, just run it with whatever SWF player you have.
Unlike the second game, which was more of an upgrade to the original than an actual sequel, this game is truly a massive sequel that improves on the original. You now have eight maps, all with three separate difficulty modes, and more building options than before. While the glue gun has been removed, it's been replaced by a placeable puddle of glue which is a new addition along with a pineapple bomb. You also have the new Spike-o-pult which will destroy anything it touches and a support tower that speeds every tower around it up and eventually unlocks an upgrade that nukes every bloon on the track.
The bloons have been upgraded as well. You'll meet a ton of series mainstays such as porcelain bloons, lead bloons, and the almighty MOAB. This is the first entry where you have to worry about what towers can pop what kind of bloons.
The great additions make this game incredibly easy to recommend, and it forms the baseline for every Bloon TD game to come. You should definitely give Bloons Tower Defense 3 a download.
