While the default Windows Explorer does its job competently enough, there are a ton of upgrades and quality of life improvements that users of Windows have been clamoring for over the years. Microsoft has promised these features will come with time, but other than a few unreleased beta periods, there haven't been any official releases. People have gotten annoyed with the wait and have taken it upon themselves to create what they want, and XYplorer is one of those programs.

The installation procedure for XYplorer doesn't take long at all. When you boot the program up, you'll notice that it resembles Windows Explorer greatly, with some variance. There is a tree view, and two panes for exploring two separate locations, and it's easy to perform file operations via drag and drop. 

All sorts of information can be copied to the Clipboard, like file or folder names, paths, bases, short or UNC paths, as well as other information such as the date of modification, bytes, and more. The file information can be compacted or extended in several ways.

You can also delete locked or overly long files, bypassing the Recycle Bin completely. This is incredibly useful when you need it, but just a nice touch otherwise. An advanced search function helps you quickly locate every file you'd ever want much more quickly than the default Explorer could ever manage.
