Last Updated: 2020-11-18 16:33:16
Super Mario 64 is one of the most influential platformers of all time. When it first released, it completely redefined how 3D platformers should be redefined. It had a ton of momentum-based movement, a diverse moveset that let you find a ton of different ways to get to your destination. Very few 3D platformers have come close even to this day, and it's still regarded as one of the best platformers of all time. Recently, fans have ported it over with Super Mario 64 PC Port.
To install Super Mario 64 PC Port, simply run the executable. If you find that your game is running at an incredibly high speed on launch, then you need to set its refresh rate to 60 or 30 Hz.
To be clear, this is a full port of the original game. The entire game was decompiled back in 2019, and this let fans clean up the code and have a 1 to 1 recreation of the original game on to the computer, with some extra features. For instance, there is proper widescreen support that takes a lot fewer resources than it would on an emulator.
Because this game is now properly on the PC, it has also become a lot easier to mod it with higher resolution texture packs and various other such mods. On top of that, it has native support for XInput controllers, much like many native PC ports nowadays.
All in all, Super Mario 64 PC Port is a fantastic port of one of the best genre-defining games of all tiime.
