The Windows OS isn't incredibly customizable. Sure, it's a lot more robust than previous versions, but it's still difficult to make any proper change. In particular, the Windows Explorer is fairly stubborn, having very few customization options by default. You'd have to use third party programs to customize it properly, and StExBar is one of many.
The installation procedure for StExBar doesn't take long, on account of it simply slapping a single file on your computer and add some registry files. After the installation's finished, you'll notice a new submenu when you right-click on an empty space in Windows Explorer. Among these are a few more obtuse ones that are harder to explain, such as console, PowerShell, grepWin, filter or automatic, hide it, as well as hide commands in the context menu, or add new custom buttons.
New commands can be added by specifying a display name, icon, command line, startling location, and hotkey. Of course, this means that you'll need to be familiar with programming, so rookie users can ignore these commands. For experienced users, though, the properties of custom commands can be edited anytime, or they can be removed from the menu if you change your mind. If you get lost, there's help documentation every step of the way.
The program doesn't use many resources and has almost no technical issues. If you're an experienced user and want to customize your experience a little more, then look no further than StExBar. If you know how to program, then give this a download.
