Halo: Combat Evolved is one of the most influential first-person shooters of all time. People who never experienced it when it first came out will play it and scoff at how unoriginal and cliche it is - that's how much of an influence on the genre it had. However, its at time dated feeling does hold it back in some fan's eyes, as the Halo sandbox has evolved exponentially since then. A group has taken to remixing the original Halo, coming out with SPV3, a mod that completely remixes the campaign.

To install SPV3, simply make sure you have Halo: CE installed and run the executable.

The first thing you'll notice is that there are a ton of different things added to the classic Halo formula. Armor abilities, from Halo Reach, are added and modified to fit into the Halo sandbox. Brutes and all the weapons that come with them have been added. New weapons are added and existing ones modified so each has a more unique role - with mixed results. On top of all this, each level of the original campaign has been expanded to include a ton of different areas and wildlife that the original Halo had to cut out of its release due to the state of Bungie at the time.

All in all, SPV3 is a must-play for any fan of the original Halo: Combat Evolved. The fresh take on this old classic is absolutely delightful and brings a fresh take that's very much unlike every other Halo title.
