Rodina 1.4.2

No Man's Sky was one of the most hyped-up releases in recent times, and while its initial release was disappointing, constant patches have made it start living up to that hype in recent times. What's less known is that around the time it was released, there was a small indie game that had a very similar premise and gameplay flow. I'm talking about Rodina.

Installing Rodina is simple and straightforward. Just run the installer and you're good to go. When you first start the game, you'll find yourself stranded on a random asteroid. Once you leave the asteroid, however, you'll discover a whole system full of possibilities. There is a fully-fledged solar system, with civilizations on some of those planets. Don't think that the planets are the only ones that have anything to offer, though. Asteroids tend to have plenty.

As you explore space, you'll eventually find or receive various messages that will reveal more about what's happening. Moreover, most of the asteroids and planets are guarded by aliens. Taking them down will lead to weapon caches, messages, and even ship upgrades. For example, you can find an engine upgrade that lets you travel faster or weapons to defend yourself all the better with. Landing on a planet is exhilarating, thanks to the atmosphere. If you approach too fast, your ship will catch fire and you'll need to put it out before continuing.

All in all, Rodina is an entertaining game that's great for any player who's into space exploration.
