The Windows registry is a complete unknown for most common users. The most anybody will do in relation to it is running some automatic registry cleaning programs. Maybe some gamers will dive in to change one value to get some technical workaround on a problem. However, the most experienced users will want to interpret all the information and maybe modify it easily, and Windows's default registry viewer won't allow them to do that. That's where programs like RegCool come in.

Regcool's installation and bootup sequence is straightforward, with no real thing to make a big comment on. After booting it up, you'll notice that it looks very similar to Windows's default viewer, with some changes made to it. There's an extra bottom pane that displays all the information from the entry you've selected. It shows you information such as name, value, type, size and time. You can modify each of these values easily by double-clicking an entry.

You can also Undo and Redo each entry, configure permissions, view key properties, browse the history viewer, create a favorites list, and search for a certain key. You can also back up and restore the registry, compare registries and snapshots, access Registry Editor, import favorite, and configure general settings.

Keep in mind that if you don't know exactly what you're doing, it's not recommended to go diving around in there. One value changed incorrectly could have potentially severe ramifications. That being said, if you're comfortable in your own knowledge, then feel free to give Recgool a download.
