The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion is one of the more acclaimed RPGs of last decade. It also gave rise to Bethesda's famous levels of mod support, as this was one of the first games with a ton of different ways to change your experience. From fans fixing the game to making it more beautiful to straight up just adding new stories, mods have been a core part of almost every Bethesda game since. One of the best for Oblivion is Nehrim: At Fate's Edge.
To install Nehrim: At Fate's Edge, simply run the executable and you're good to go.
This mod takes place in the war-torn continent of Nehrim, which the game is named for. In Nehrim, you start out as a normal mage until you get drafted into the local resistance against the Mage prejudice in Chancellor Baretheon's reign. This story has a lot of different twists that come hard and fast, and it departs from the cliche resistance story quickly.
There are some gameplay changes, such as direct fast travel not existing. Instead, you have to teleport to various locations. Quest markers have been reduced down to a level where you have to actually pay attention to the quest giver to know where to go. Nehrim also involves puzzles, parkour, and various other situations, which makes it a little more diverse than the game it came from.
Overall, Nehrim: At Fate's Edge is a fantastic fan mod that really pushed the envelope of what fan mods could do. If that sounds appealing, you should give this mod a shot.
