Minecraft: Witchcraft and Wizardry 1.0

The Harry Potter world is one of the most well known in the world, with it defining the childhood of millions. However, despite the potential of the world, there hasn't been a proper Harry Potter open world RPG created yet where you can properly explore the school itself. The last place you'd expect to find something like that is as a Minecraft mod, but lo and behold - Witchcraft and Wizardry came out.

Installing Witchcraft and Wizardry is straightforward, just drag it into your maps folder. However, they also recommend that you install Optifine so the textures work properly.

As soon as you start the map up, you'll be overwhelmed at just how much effort went into it. There are proper cutscenes, menus and presentation. On top of that, there's a custom soundtrack that resembles Harry Potter just closely enough to give the same atmosphere and vibe, but different enough to not be copyrighted.

There are quests and lessons to attend, but there's no proper story. This is more of an exploration map that plays much like a Metroidvania, with some areas being inaccessible until you have the proper spell to unlock the area. And the map? It is absolutely gorgeous. Obviously, they've taken some liberties and there are a ton more hallways than the films indicated, but this is the first time that you truly get to explore all of Hogwarts. Not just Hogwarts, either. You can also explore the Malfoy Mansion, Burrows, and Diagon Alley too.

Overall, Witchcraft and Wizardry is one of the most impressive maps ever created, especially since it has all the workings of a proper game.
