Monstronto Labs – Veggie Deathtrap is a short but very funny and strangely addictive game made for the Home of Nerds game jam “Dying is Good”. In the game you play as three different vegetables, corn cobs, tomatoes and carrots all of whom are rotten and want to die an honorable death as well as escape from the lab, during the game you can switch between the vegetable each of which has a special feature that can help it’s vegetable brothers to escape however they will have to sacrifice themselves for this, for example the tomato can explode and short out electrical circuits, the corn can pop and destroy crates that may be in your way and the carrot can fall over and form a makeshift bridge for its comrades to proceed over.
Monstronto Labs – Veggie Deathtrap has a lovely 3D art style and the quite disturbing faces on each of the vegetables makes them look both horrific and sympathetic at the same time but always hilarious to look at. You’d think a game with so many kind of quirky elements may lack in game play but it actually provides a very fun and interesting challenge in trying to get all of your vegetables out of the labs and using each of their noble abilities in the right places to try and progress with each part getting just a bit more difficult.
A really fun and different game with some fabulous art, you can download Monstronto Labs – Veggie Deathtrap here for free.
