DOOM is one of the oldest FPSes in existence, and its engine is famously so robust that it can run on pretty much anything and also create pretty much anything. From FPSes to RPGs to companions to a city living game, it has a ton of different mods and maps that can all do different things. One of many is Kuchitsu.
To install Kuchitsu, you need to have ZDoom and move the WAD file into the GZDoom folder, which is pretty par for the course for DOOM maps.
There is no official story, but there is a certain narrative flow from one level to the next. For instance, you'll be taking a boat at the end of one level, then start the next level off at the docks. After that, you'll fight your way through a city to an escape plane. The music makes everything seem very whimsical as well.
The levels are short and loaded with low-tier enemies, but to compensate, they tuned down the amount of ammo and health you get. It's not excessively challenging, but you'll need to be good at picking your fights and aiming true. The maps have a very down to earth feel compared to how DOOM maps usually are, with you going through a relatively standard city before bizarrely going into a sci-fi spaceport.
All in all, Kuchitsu isn't groundbreaking, but it's very fun and easygoing. There's no real reason to hate it, but it doesn't try to do anything new as well. It's just some simple fun.
