Mods are some of the best community-created content out there. If you as a developer have an active modding scene, then you can guarantee that your game will last much longer than other games that don't have the same thing. Half-life games are especially popular, due to how acclaimed the game was and how easily moddable the engine is. Korsakovia is one of them.

To install Portal: Prelude, you must have Portal installed. Then, run the installer and you're good to go.

First thing's first - this isn't a pretty mod. Its creator, chineseroom, isn't known for making beautiful mods. However, he more than makes up for it with various other aspects. In this mod, it's the story. This story is legitimately great, doubly as impressive given its competition in other Half Life 2 mods.

You play as an insane man who has been admitted to a hospital after he's gouged his eyes out, wrapped his hands in copper wires, and stuck them into the TV. You traverse the hospital in his mind, pursued by some mysterious black clouds, as the world steadily starts crumbling around you. There is also another character, but only in voice overs. Your doctor will speak to you occasionally. The main character also speaks, and his lines only highlight how horrifying his mind is.

The gameplay is about as basic as you can get, and definitely not what you came here for. If you want a good story, you should definitely give Korsakovia a download. You won't regret it.
