Howard::Outlook.com / Live.com / Hotmail.com Email Notifier Review

We are all very busy people with many tasks that we have to accomplish on a daily basis. We’re always on the go, always in need of information, and always near a computer whether it be a desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone. It has become unorthodox for one to find an individual without at least one of these items close to them. This is all because the need for information is so strong in this day and age that the thought of being without information scares many of us. While information, being anything from dinner texts from your spouse to a statement of cash flows from the accounting department, can come from many different mediums, the fastest has proven to be the internet.

The internet has spoiled us. We rely on it every day to have the information we seek when we search for it. If it doesn’t, we complain about a technology that is a miracle in itself that it even exists. Everyday developers find new ways to manipulate the internet into handling tasks even faster when we request them to be completed and provide us with information before we even ask for it. The more successful applications use a combination of both. One example of developers using the internet to provide you with information be for you even knew it was available is “push notifications.” Developers have found ways to monitor user accounts and information on the internet so that they can report back to the user as information has become available to them. An example of this is email notifications. When an email is received by your inbox, the email system knows as soon as the action has happened and can read the information in the email to send you a concise notification that may simply tell you that you have a new email and/or provide you with details of that email, such as who it is from and the subject of the email. While this is a great system, it is not always properly emulated or implemented and sometimes it is not included at all.

Because we have grown accustomed to companies “doing things right” when a system is not properly implemented, we notice and it looks bad, very bad. Microsoft has had its share of faults (Office 2007), but they’ve gotten a lot better in using the internet to manipulate systems with their own gathered information. We see this in their Windows Phone 8 platform as the notification system has vastly improved over the previous Windows Phone operating systems; however, the notification system within their desktop applications could still use some work.

With one of the most popular emailing systems in the United States, you would think that instant notifications come standard. However, in Outlook 2013, there is a bit of a delay between receiving your email in your inbox and receiving a notification about its arrival. And I don’t mean a couple of seconds worth of a delay; we’re talking minutes, sometimes even greater than 10 minutes. Luckily, there seems to be a fix for this.

The Howard::Outlook.com / Live.com / Hotmail.com Email Notifier constantly monitors your inbox for the moment that an email arrives and sends you a notification when it does. Howard is a proper emulation of the previously described system. This ensures that there is no lag between you and your notifications. Your notifications will be displayed near your system tray at the bottom right corner of your screen or wherever you have placed your system tray on your desktop. The application also allows you to choose from different icon styles giving you a bit of customization over how your notifications will look when they come in.

This is how the system was meant to be. Download the email notifier today and experience normal notifications again.
