American Mcgee is a game developer that's best known for his work on Alice, a game that takes the traditional fairy tale of Alice in Wonderland and twists it around to present a darker take on it. He's worked on other games too, all of which share the same flavor of dark charm, and one of the many he's made is Grimm, an episodic dark take on fairy tales.
To install Grimm: Episode 1, make sure you have Steam installed and then go to this link to install the game.
It's worth noting that only the first episode of this game is free - the other episodes all need you to pay money. In this series of episodes, you play as the titular character, Grimm, who spreads fear and darkness wherever he walks. On your twisted travels, you will meet a variety of innocent civilians, and as you approach them, they die.
The gameplay is shallow, with you fulfilling objectives with a very narrow set of moves to progress in the story. The story in this episode features a boy who is curious about what fear means, and sets off to discover what it is. Your job as the Grimm is to scare him badly, which you end up doing on every single mission.
Other than it's dark charm and solid art style, Grimm: Episode 1 actually doesn't have much to offer as a game. If you simply want to experience a game that feels incredibly unique, then you should give it a shot. Otherwise, steer clear.
