Friday Night Funkin' is one of the biggest hits in recent times with its incredibly beginner-friendly approach to rhythm games as well as its incredibly stylish art direction and its funkin' tunes. However, if you get down to the nitty gritty, it's...not actually that great a game. Its engine is laggy and its inputs have a lot of trouble with staircases, which is a massive problem for one particular song. One modder aims to fix some of these issues with his own engine, and he titles it Friday Night Funkin' Rewritten.

To play Friday Night Funkin' Rewritten, simply unzip the files into the game folder and run the executable.

This mod is still unfinished as it is right now, and you'll notice as soon as you boot it up. The menu screen is incredibly barebones and functional, with none of the flair the base game had.

However, once you actually choose a song and get into it, you will notice a massive difference. The FPS is ridiculously smooth, really highlighting just how choppy the original game was. However, you'll also notice that it's pretty barebones here too. There isn't even an indicator over the girlfriend over how accurate your hits were - all there is is a score counter in the bottom right.

Of course, this is still a mod in progress, and the future's looking bright. If you wanted to experience some of the smoothest Friday Night Funkin' gameplay you will ever play, then you should definitely give Friday Night Funkin' Rewritten a download.
