EVERLAST 1.0

Low budget indie games tend to be some of the most creative around, assuming they aren't just flipping assets poorly in Unity. Without the budget to create an epic, the creators instead need to focus on one unique feature to make their games stick out. From these restrictions come some truly inventive concepts. One of them is EVERLAST, a first person horror game where a woman confronts her fear of aging.

To play EVERLAST, simply run the executable after unzipping it to a folder.

This is an incredibly short game, but it's one of the most compelling 10 minutes I've spent my time on. You play as somebody who just died and finds out that the afterlife is corporate sponsored...in the worst way possible. The afterlife is separated into three different membership packages, and you've been found to have anti-corporation sentiments while you were alive, so you're forced into the worst package. It only goes even further downhill from there. I don't want to spoil too much and the game is so short that you should experience it, but needless to say, the implications are absolutely horrifying.

This game uses procedurally generated AI as its characters, and it fits perfectly into the game. The uncanny valley along with the stilted, fake corporate speak truly elevates the game to a whole new level. Nobody is on your side and everybody feels incredibly fake and unfeeling.

All in all, if you want to play a game with an incredibly unique premise, then you should give EVERLAST a download.
