Can You Escape Fate? 1.0

Can You Escape Fate is an Undertale inspired game where the story line revolves heavily around the recently passed Chinese New Year and the animal that represented 2016 is kind of your guide, with your brother having gone missing in 2016 you decide not to move to 2017 but to use your soul as collateral to the evil (or is he evil we never found out and the reason why will be explained shortly) monkey Houzi who is going to allow you to go back to 2016 but only on the condition that he holds your soul whilst you do it and if not everything is done on his terms then you may well never get your soul back!

After a brief battle which uses an almost identical mechanic to Undertale although Can You Escape Fate’s battle system is a little more clunky where it involves moving your cursor all over the place trying to avoid any of the blue cracked hearts (the enemy power in this first battle but not in all of them) and trying to move the cursor quick enough to collect the red full hearts which are good.

After this brief introduction to the battle system you will have to follow a little of the story line and there’s a very simple puzzle to work out, after that you move on to the next part of your adventure and that’s where you will enter in your first proper battle if you should choose to do so, these battles are normally based around unachieved hopes that people has in 2016 such as meeting a couple of lost souls who wanted to have a viral video hit but never made it however you can help them achieve their ambition by playing a battle where you try to collect YouTube likes and avoid dislikes. There was an issue we had at this point though after dying the game said it can be only continued by downloading it to your cell phone, however one way round this although a slight pain in the proverbial is too close the game and then restart and you should be able to pick up from the stage you last died or ended the game at.

This is certainly worth a couple of plays especially for those of you who can’t get enough of Undertale and want something similar but with a slight difference to it to play but there really isn’t anything particularly original in here.
