A.N.O.N.Y.M.U.S. (I haven’t spelt it wrong the developer of the game named it after the Hungarian spelling of the famous hacking group) is a jump scare filled game where you play as Thomas who is back on his job as a hacker after having spent some time off to grieve for a lost one.
The game is very similar to Five Night’s at Freddy’s although it’s simplified a little more in that you can only look from your computer screen to your bedroom door, however there is another part of the game where you are in a completely different section of the house.
The jump scares are really well done, well the first few at least however because there is so many appearances of an Anonymous member (yes that’s who creeps up on you, we’ll come back to that shortly) it starts to diminish in the fear factor quite quickly.
There’s some really cool music and interesting information given between night’s 1 and 2 and that was certainly enjoyable but the game could have been improved by having more of the interactive hacker element and having your actions affect the outcomes, that being said it’s not a bad game and is certainly creative if perhaps not a particularly original idea.
Let’s address the elephant in the room and the one thing that made the game very confusing, if you are part of Anonymous (or Anonymus) then why would the person or persons who are after you be wearing Anonymous masks? Perhaps this is a really interesting plot twist I never made it as far as seeing and I really hope it is explained at some point in the game but overall a very enjoyable game.
