Low budget indie games tend to be some of the most creative around, assuming they aren't just flipping assets poorly in Unity. Without the budget to create an epic, the creators instead need to focus on one unique feature to make their games stick out. From these restrictions comes some truly inventive concepts. One of them is 10-13, which carries itself solely through atmosphere and solid writing.

To play 10-13, simply unzip the files into a folder and run the executable.

This is an incredibly tense game where you play as a lone operative being sent to investigate a containment breach of supernatural beings in a research facility. Contact has been lost with the previous team that was sent before you, so they naturally decide to send just one more person to investigate.

Gameplay is very simple, with you moving left and right with A and D, Space to shoot, and Tab to report back to command to keep them updated on the situation. The last part is one of the most unique parts of the game, with it encouraging you to report back whenever you spot something strange. This leads to the game having a surprising amount of banter despite its short length, and it's entertaining enough to drive the game forward.

The only other real surprise is how you have to evade the monster, which is fairly interesting despite its 2D nature and basic movement. If any of that sounds interesting to you, then you should definitely give 10-13 a download.
