Survival horror games has had a couple of different eras in its design. There was the era where certain strong monsters came crashing out of nowhere and you had to defend yourself with firearms. Then, there was the era where you had to fend off a horde of enemies with firearms. Then there was the era where it was jumpscares galore and you couldn't defend yourself. Now, the era where there is a single strong monster stalking the darkness and you have to avoid it at all costs. unheimlich is part of that last era.

To install unheimlich, simply unzip the archive and run the executable.

The game doesn't have a story per se, but there is an implied backstory. You wake up in a locked room and find a piece of paper that tells you you can only urn, hide, and pick up items. Your objective is to get out of the house and avoid some shadowy monsters that appear out of nowhere. There is no combat system. You can only run.

This game has several environmental elements that could be used to your advantage. You can hide behind obstacles after jumping over them or hide in a cabinet. The monsters are scary because they always appear out of nowhere and can kill you quickly out of nowhere, and if you turn around to check behind you, they'll likely be able to catch you.

If you're a horror fan, then you should definitely give unheimlich a try. It's a pretty unique game with plenty of scares along the way.
