The Moon Has Faded Away Alpha

Low budget indie games tend to be some of the most creative around, assuming they aren't just flipping assets poorly in Unity. Without the budget to create an epic, the creators instead need to focus on one unique feature to make their games stick out. From these restrictions come some truly inventive concepts. One of them is The Moon Has Faded Away, which is a short experimental game about the moon disappearing.

To play The Moon Has Faded Away, simply run the executable after unzipping it to a folder.

This game is short but haunting. You play as a teenager named Alex who just moved to a new apartment with his sister and mother. You all introduce yourself to your neighbors, but they're all incredibly strange. That night, your mother also starts acting strange and leaves the apartment. The news then comes on and a news report states that the moon as suddenly disappeared, causing mass hysteria. It then starts warning you to not dreaw attention to yourself, board up the windows, and turn off the lights.

You can probably see where the story's going from here. It's a David Cage-esque horror story and it's great to see it unfold. Unfortunately, though, the graphics don't really add to it in my opinion. The gameplay is also a pretty standard walking simulator interspersed with some tense timed sections.

All in all, if you want to play a game with an incredibly unique premise, then you should give The Moon Has Faded Away a download.
