Your modem has a ton of settings, so you'd be forgiven if you simply look through them without actually having anything sink in. However, there are actually a ton of places where the default settings don't give you the maximum amount of efficiency from your internet. Unless you feel like learning all the technical stuff yourself, you'll need to have a special program to optimize them, which is what TCP/IP Optimizer is here for.

There is no installation process for TCP/IP Optimizer, which makes it incredibly portable. Simply drag and drop it onto a USB and bring it around with you easily. The interface is incredibly simple, but it packs a ton of customizable settings that makes it easy to optimize network parameters.

The first thing you can do from the main window of the program is to adjust the connection speed. In case you have multiple adapters connected to the system, you can choose the one you wish to tweak. With this program, you also get a series of settings you can select and apply. These are Windows Default, Current and Optimal. In case you prefer to adjust anything by hand, simply go for the Custom mode.

While you're performing the modifications manually, you'll have a ton of things at your disposal. Among them is the ability to activate MTU discovery and set the desired value for it, or simply let the program automatically do it. With so many different settings and ways to optimize your internet speed, TCP/IP Optimizer is one of the more useful internet optimizers.
