There's a ton of news on the internet nowadays. How on earth are you expected to keep up? Gone are the days where newspapers told you what relevant information it thought you needed to know - now you have to scour the internet yourself in search of such knowledge - if you even bother at all. However, there are plenty of tools out there to help you keep up with the news, and RSSOwl is one of them.
Other than requiring Java installed (a dealbreaker for some already), RSSOwl doesn't need anything special for you to install it. A simple wizard pops up at the beginning that invites you to subscribe to some predetermined feeds that it comes built-in with. You don't need to accept this - you can go online and search for your own feeds to follow.
The main application window is split into three primary sections. The left pane allows you to explore your subscriptions in a list format that are all organized by topic. The top-right pane lists a ton of unread headlines that you can peruse through. And under that is the news content, laid out in an easy to read format. If you want more information, you can always directly double click on the headline and the program will automatically redirect you to the website that it was sourced from, letting you give that site traffic and support them.
There isn't much to digest about RSSOwl - it's simple, clean, robust, and easy to use. An easy recommend to everyone who wants to flow the news.
