Norascan 3.4

Norascan is an anti-malware program that uses cloud-based technology to constantly update its database and quickly verifies suspicious files as safe and quarantines/removes threats. It isn't meant to be the primary antivirus, but it works alongside almost every other antivirus program out there to provide extra security. This is unlike most antiviruses, which tend to conflict with each other and potentially cause immense amounts of damage to the system.

Norcascan's interface is, like a lot of great programs out there, straight and to the point. There are multiple checkboxes that let you tweak the search settings, such as enabling Rootkit behavior analysis and verifying suspicious files personally. By default, Norascan doesn't check all file extensions. It just checks the ones most likely to be threats, such as .exe or .rar files. If you want, though, you can check all file extensions such as .jpeg or .png files, no matter how unlikely they are to carry viruses.

Once you're done scanning, a result list shows up. If you're certain that some of the items aren't threats, you can manually remove them. It's more recommended, however, to click "Upload and Verify", which lets it check the results against its cloud-based knowledge. After that, most of the benign files I saw disappeared, leaving only one likely threat. It was still really nice to know that Norascan would rather make a mistake than completely pass it over. I highly recommend this program to anyone wanting to keep their computer safe. It's extremely smart and very unlikely to make mistakes.
