Nightmare Zapping Review
Last Updated: 2023-03-29 05:47:15
Low-budget indie games tend to be some of the most creative around, assuming they aren't just flipping assets poorly in Unity. Without the budget to dazzle the audience with beautiful graphics, they instead need to focus on something else to stand out. These restrictions can lead to some very creative premises. Let's look at Nightmare Zapping.
To install Nightmare Zapping, simply unzip the files inside the archive into any folder you want.
The premise of Nightmare Zapping is unique. You play as someone who is browsing a ton of creepy channels on the television. These stories all contain short broadcasts that tells you stories about the inhabitants of a small town. These all form a narrative, and you need to put the pieces together to form the full story. It's very similar to something like a SoulsBorne game, where very little of the plot is given to you at face value.
The gameplay comes in when you are able to interact with a couple of the stories, being able to choose how the story progresses. These can range from simple visual novel-esque dialogue choices to full-blown puzzle-solving. There are a ton of different secrets for you to find with these limited interactions, which is actually quite a feat.
The atmosphere is top tier. The retro pixel art animations and the audio design is all excellent considering the budget. It's the kind of atmosphere that can get your skin crawling just from listening to it.
All in all, Nightmare Zapping is an incredibly unique game that everybody should check out.
