There have been a ton of different hybrid games out there, but one of the most popular genres for these hybrid experiments is MMO. Many genres work fine in an MMO format - just take the genre, make it bigger, and balance it around the larger amount of players. However, RTS is one of the least attempted one. My Lands: Black Gem Hunting is one of the latest attempts at this.

This game has a ton of different features. The biggest thing that most people will notice is there is city management. This game is incredibly focused on building up your city, managing its economy, and using it to progress your science trees and research. Adding on to that, this game also features an extensive science tree, where you have to progress through a tree utilizing resources to gain various benefits. 

However, one of the biggest draws of this game is the clan system. This game is incredibly focused on clan play - it's nearly impossible to play this game on your own. Without a clan backing you up, you will find yourself unable to defend yourself and unable to take land either. You will basically be incapable of taking over land of your own if you don't have a clan behind you.

There are a ton of downsides, however. This game is pay to win, and the graphics are heavily outdated. If you want to be competitive, get ready to pay. If you want to just be casual, however, then you can give it a shot.
