Does your computer have this weird problem where after you tell it to shut down, it simply...doesn't? And so it just stays on for the whole night, hurting itself the whole time? Yeah, I have that problem all the time, and it's irritating as all hell. My CPU is being heated up for far longer than it should and the damage just gets worse and worse the whole time. My computer's life expectancy has probably dropped by a few months just from this annoying, occasional problem. That is until I found a program called Mouse Shutdown Timer.

Mouse Shutdown Timer is an incredibly lightweight piece of software whose purpose is to shut down your computer if your mouse doesn't move for a certain amount of time. It's incredibly useful if you just simply forget to turn your computer off. The interface is also extremely simple to use. There aren't really that many settings to tinker around with - you can change the amount of time it takes before a warning pops up, and also modify the time it takes to properly shut down after that. The timer only applies if your mouse doesn't move for a long amount of time, and the warning ensures that it won't shut off while you're watching a particularly long video or movie.

While the program is simple, it does its job well while taking up a whopping .01% of my CPU to do it. Simple is best sometimes, and Mouse Shutdown Timer proves it.
