There has been a recent trend in fiction where people take traditional fairy tales and add a dark twist on it. This is surprising, because fairy tales are already pretty dark if you think about it. One of the more popular fairy tales to twist is Red Riding Hood just because it's one of the better-known ones, and it ready has some very dark overtones from the wolf to the hunter. One of the many that remixes this classic fairy tale is the Hood series. Let's look at Hood: Episode 1.

In this game, you play as the Hunter from the fairy tale, charged with finding the titular Red Hooded girl. The atmosphere is very similar to Alice is Dead in that it's incredibly unsettling, but never crosses directly into the horror category. The music in the background is off-kilter, and the environment always feels a little off and barren. You'll have to talk to a lot of different characters to complete your goal, with dialogue choices and branches. The lore also feels in-depth despite the fact that there are rarely more that snippets that hint at the larger picture.
