Final Fantasy XIV 5.25

Final Fantasy XIV has had one of the most turbulent developments of all time. The original release was an unmitigated disaster, with the game barely working and the gameplay not engaging most of the playerbase. Crashing and lag was a regular feature. However, what did Square Enix do? Rather than quietly stopping its support like any other company would, they instead decided to blow up the world via an in story event and reboot the whole thing. How well did it work? Well, it's considered one of the best MMORPGs nowadays.

This game's main defining features are the in-depth story and class system. The class system in particular is every unique. Unlike other games, where you can only be one or two classes at a time, you can be every class on a single character in this game. That means that you don't need to ever create a second character unless you want to experience the first couple of levels from a different perspective.

The story takes time to get going, and unfortunately, the trial version of the game limits you to level 35, which is where the story starts getting interesting. If you can get past that and get into the expansions, however, this is a great game with fantastic emotional story beats.

Overall, Final Fantasy XIV is an easy recommendation from me. If you fell out of love with the MMORPG genre long ago, now's the time to hop back in.
