Point and click games used to be all the craze until around the 2010s. Now, they're usually relegated to mid size productions or simple indie titles. The genre also proved incredibly popular among flash game creators, due to the relatively simple planning and programming that goes into such a game. One creator, Hottategoya, became known for short, bite-sized escape room games. Let's look at a work of his - Escape from the Strange Forest.

This game has no story, which is completely fine, as the game is incredibly short. The setting is very unique as far as Hottategoya games go - an incredibly confusing forest, with a ton of identical areas for you to stumble through.

Unlike Hottategoya's typical design, there's not many puzzles to work through. In fact, there's really only one puzzle - a map marked with numbers and pictures that you can pick up from the very beginning of the game. You have to use this map to navigate around the otherwise endless copy paste rooms to finally find a way out. If you know what you're doing, you can finish the game in under two minutes.

All in all, Escape from the Strange Forest is a great entry by Hottategoya and really shows off the creator's strength in escape room game design.
