Compression and decompression tools should be one of the first things anybody gets after they fresh install a new OS. The default ones leave much to be desired, and many others just flat out work better. Without these various archiving tools, files you download might be inaccessible, and even if they are accessible, they are usually far larger than they should be. While everybody knows about the eternally free trial WinRAR, 7-zip, and Winzip, there are plenty of others that deserve a mention. One of them is Archiver.

Archiver takes but a scant few seconds to install, and the only option you can choose is whether or not to make it the default program associated with the typical archive file formats. On bootup, you'll see an explorer incredibly similar to the default Windows Explorer. Should you go to Windows Explorer itself, you'll find that a context menu has been added, letting you directly create an archive using Archiver's packing configuration. There are a ton of options in said configuration. It lets you include or exclude subfolders, save file paths, keep the original files or delete them afterward, and encrypt them with passwords. Once that's done, it will create an archive with your selected files and at the selected destination.

There are also other options to choose from, like how compressed you want the archive to be. With such a bevy of options, it makes Archiver stand tall amongst its competitors, easily able to match and even surpass the big three in some areas.
